- Click on ‘Book a Tutor’ button from the home page or visit

- Select a service
- Tutoring
- Workshop
- Select a service provider (tutor), then click on the button “Show available times”
- Select an available appointment from the calendar (marked in green) by clicking on chosen day. A separate table of time slots will appear next to calendar for selection
- At the bottom of the page click on the button ‘Please Click here to confirm this appointment’
An email confirmation will be sent to the address you have on file immediately and then again two days before your appointment
Tutoring Policies
York University IEN Language Research
Individual Student Tutoring Program
The purpose of the program is to provide one on one written English tutoring for IEN students enrolled in the nursing bridging program. This program is offered as one intervention in the language research project being conducted by Professors Lum and Bradley.
Students are required to adhere to the following policies in order to receive this service.
- Making an Appointment
- All sessions are 30 minutes long.
- Schedule your appointment one week in advance. Give your full name and student ID number.
- Send sample material (over weekend and till Sunday 11:30 pm). This is important to allow instructors to review essays for sessions.
- Make sure that you send the instructors your questions, a sample of comments, or writing and writing’s requirements when you schedule the appointment.
- Don’t skip session blocks; sign up in the first block that is available on the day of your choice.
- Getting the Most Out of Your Appointment or How to Prepare for Your Session
- Be PUNCTUAL FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT, IE. PLAN TO ARRIVE A FEW MINUTES EARLY.
- Bring a HARD COPY of the writing and its requirements that you’ve sent in advance.
- Bring a copy of your instructor’s comments if you wish feedback
- Before the session, reread your sample to determine what questions you would like to discuss during the session.
- What You Can Expect
The purpose of these individual tutorials is to provide you with an opportunity to discuss the technical language skills required to write quality written academic assignments in a university nursing bridging program. The English language instructors will focus on assisting you to improve your critical thinking and technical writing skills such as structuring an essay, vocabulary, coherence and cohesion etc. They will not offer assistance in discussing the nursing content of your assignments.
NONE OF THE INFORMATION THAT YOU SHARE WITH THE LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR WILL BE SHARED WITH YOUR COURSE DIRECTORS OR THE SCHOOL OF NURSING. Any information obtained from these sessions will be treated as confidential, anonymous information of the research project.
- Attendance and Cancellation Policies
- To cancel before your appointment, indicate cancellation on the electronic sign-up page as soon as you can.
- To cancel on the day of appointment, cancel and reschedule before 8:30 am to allow system to send note to instructors.
- If you are ten minutes or more late for appointment, your sessions is cancelled
- 2 cancellations without notice result in termination of your access to this tutoring service.
- Check final session schedule at 9:00 am the day of the session.
